  The Albert Ist Suite, 109 sqm on the hotel's top floor, takes its name from the historic pleasure gardens next door, named for Albert I, King of the Belgians, in honour of his courage during the First World War. Silk wallpaper, Italian walnut floors and Belle Époque-style furniture furnish its separate living and dining rooms, with a private terrace looking out over the Baie des Anges and the old town.

Anantara Plaza Nice suits travellers who want to be based in Nice itself — walking distance from Place Masséna, the old town and the Promenade des Anglais — with Monaco, Cannes and Saint-Tropez all reachable within a couple of hours. The building's 1848 bones are dressed in a genuinely contemporary renovation rather than a period pastiche, so travellers drawn to gilded, classical palace interiors may prefer one of Nice's more traditional addresses; for a design-forward stay with a proper rooftop restaurant and easy beach access, this is a strong choice.
